The Article
Microneedling with PRP combines two things your skin already responds to: controlled micro-injuries that trigger collagen production, and platelet-rich plasma from your own blood, which carries the growth factors involved in repair. Clients choose it for texture, fine lines, acne scarring and sun damage.
What the Appointment Feels Like
First, a topical numbing cream goes on and sits while it takes effect. While you numb, we draw a small amount of your blood and spin it in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. That part takes about as long as the numbing does.
Then the microneedling begins. A device with very fine needles creates controlled micro-channels across the skin, which sets off the body's wound-healing response and, with it, new collagen and elastin. The PRP is applied during the process so the growth factors reach the deeper layers through those channels.
The Skin Concerns That Bring People In
- Smoother, firmer skin as collagen rebuilds over the following weeks.
- More even texture and tone.
- Softening the look of fine lines.
- Acne scars, sun damage and uneven pigmentation.
The Part Nobody Likes: Downtime
Plan on 2 to 5 days of visible redness and sensitivity, like a sunburn that fades. Most clients schedule around a weekend. The collagen remodeling that produces the visible change happens over weeks, not days, and a series of sessions is usually recommended rather than one.
Who It Tends to Suit
It suits most skin types, but not every situation. Active breakouts, certain skin conditions and some medications change the plan, which is why every treatment starts with a consultation. Results vary from person to person.
